AICAR

AICAR’s primary function is to activate AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase), thereby exhibiting various activities in cell and animal models, including anticancer, antihypertensive, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It can also promote glucose uptake in skeletal muscle, regulate metabolism, inhibit pro-inflammatory factors, and enhance the efficacy of other drugs.

Promoting Glucose Metabolism: AICAR can activate AMPK, thereby promoting non-insulin-dependent glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and helping to regulate blood sugar levels.

Anti-inflammatory Effects: AICAR can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory factors and nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), thus exerting an anti-inflammatory effect.

Anticancer Activity: AICAR possesses anticancer activity, enhancing the effects of other anticancer drugs (such as rapamycin) and inhibiting signal transduction in certain cancer cells (such as breast cancer cells).

Improving Cardiovascular Health: Studies have shown that AICAR can lower arterial pressure and induce vasodilation, which is beneficial to cardiovascular health.
